The 17th edition of the La Ruta de los Conquistadores, taking place on 11-14 November, will be held over four days – the organisers were toying with the notion of five days, but they’ve clearly decided it’s tough enough already.
Instead, one or two of the current four stages might present important modifications that the organisers promise will offer a “whole new experience” to veterans of the event.
So you can expect a new route, which the organisers say will be “…compatible with the spirit of La Ruta, which can be synthesised as hardcore mountain biking over the backbone of the original path that the Spanish conquistadors crossed between 1540 and 1560 when they where here in Costa Rica.”
As well as changing the route, services and logistics will be updated too, with changes to the sleeping arrangements providing for more recovery time and less transfers.
The organisers have just launched a ‘May Special’ 20% discount on the entry price, erchandise and services, to encourage riders from all around the world to be part of what is promised to be a very special (and probably quite tough) edition of La Ruta.
