There’s just a week to go until the conclusion of the world’s most famous bike race, the Tour de France. The Tour is celebrating its one hundredth anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion we’ve gathered together some TdF-related goodies…
First up, we’ve got three copies of Ray Pascoe’s film “Something To Aim For”, the story of legendary British cyclist Tom Simpson. If you’ve already read about Simpson in William Fotheringham’s “Put Me Back On My Bike” then you’ll be familiar with this film that brings the man to life. You can hear him talk and catch his great sense of humour. If you’re not familiar with one of Bitain’s Cycling greats, you can learn of the life and achievements of the world champion. Ray Pascoe is still making films about British cyclists and is currently in France with the latest tour interviewing both the riders and the spectators.
You can get more details about this and other Ray Pascoe films from Rayfilms 0208 857 1047.
Then we’ve got three copies of “Le Tour”, a pictorial history of the Tour de France by Jeremy Whittle, with a foreword by Greg Lemond. The photos are outstanding and give you are real feeling for both the hardships of the earlier days and the ever-changing face of professional cycling.
“Le Tour” is published by HarperCollins 0141 306 3767.
To be in with a chance of winning, just tell us who you think will be in the yellow (time classification), green (points classification) and polka dot (climbers) jerseys when the race is over. First three correct answers out of the virtual hat win a book and a video.
