Marin’s Rift Zone XC 7 29er is the latest big-wheeled bike to be put through its paces on Vancouver’s North Shore trails.
Last month the Santa Cruz Tallboy 29er proved its credentials in British Columbia, now it’s the turn of Marin’s 2012 machine under the guidance of adventurer Dave Norona.
“It was my first day on a 29er and what can I say – the rumours are true,” said Norona. “It floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee; these things are amazing.
“The rolling resistance is awesome, you’re just clean over things that would give you a harder time on 26-inch wheels and the bike just feels so stable at speed.
“I was a real non-believer, especially descending on these bikes, but I’ve laid a lot of these rumours to rest. It’s very stable, just point and shoot.”
