Santa Cruz Tallboy 29er proves itself on Vancouver trail

Ladies Only is a trail at Mount Fromme, a mountain on the North Shore of Vancouver, BC, and is described as “old school gnarl, new school flowy ramps, and a little bit of a x-country action.,” which makes it a good test for any bike, let alone a 29er.

But that’s just what Arthur Gaillot has gone and done in this very cool video. Arthur runs a company called Suspension Therapy, focused on helping mountain bikers get the most out of their suspension with top notch tuning services and advice. So this nice video is a good little advert for his services. But the riding it demonstrates, and the fact he’s riding a 29er with such control through ‘technical’ trails, meant we just had to bring it to your attention. More fuel for the 26er Vs 29er debate…

On the subject of wheelsize, in an interview with NSMB.com Arthur says: “29in wheels, under the right platform, eat up technical terrain and allow more people to ride lighter, quicker feeling bikes, on challenging trails. They are overall a solid cross-country tool, no matter where you live. You can’t quite bury your bike into a corner on a twenty nine like you can on a twenty six however. 26” wheels will take successive corners faster and are still better suited to longer travel applications. ”

Turns out Arthur is a properly decent bike handler too, as this video shows. In it he’s demonstrating supreme control of his chosen bike, a Tallboy 29er, through flowing singletrack including sections of boardwalk, log jumps, massive roots and more.

More about Arthur here and what he is up to.
