Sorry, we can’t resist a stereotype, but it is probably Britains most bearded mountain bike event – not that there is anything wrong with that.
Anyway we’ll put the spade down before the hole gets any deeper and tell you that the Spring Polaris is on the weekend of 24-25th March somewhere in the Welsh borders. More information can be found on the Polaris website but for the uninitiated it’s a two day, pairs event where you try and visit as many checkpoints as possible (differing scores depending on ease of access) within a time limit (seven hours Saturday, five hours Sunday) while carying all your food and camping gear for a remote overnight camp on the Saturday night. Mileages and seriousness are entirely up to you, but it’s not for the feint hearted, fair weather types.
