With a little under two months to go now until the Black Mountains 3 Day kicks off on July 1st, the team have been busy putting the finishing touches on the vital small touches which make the event
unique.
This means that as well as checking, double checking and triple checking the course to make sure it’s riding well (it’s a tough job but somebody’s got to do it), we’ve also been busy chatting to
our refreshment sponsor, Brecon-based Otley Brewing, to find out how they’ll be helping the racers throughout the weekend of brilliant Welsh riding.
The Bearded Man team are all riders and we know exactly how good it feels to roll into camp at the end of a tough day’s racing knowing there’s a cold one with your name on it ready and waiting, so we’ve
chosen our beer sponsor with care. Otley Brewing have stepped up to the task of refreshing weary participants and will be offering their pale golden O4 Columbo ale as “a general anaesthestic for all those saddle-sore people at the end of each day”.
Whilst Nick and the OB crew are by their own admission more bar end than outdoor enthusiasts (we don’t think the pun was intentional, though the other sort of bar ends might come in handy on some of the climbs during days 2 and 3), they’ll be putting their full support and encouragement right behind the riders from the opening evening time trial, all the way through 100km+ of trails to the finishing line in Glanusk at the end of day 3. Brewing in the heart of the Beacons with Brecon water and the best hops and barley, they’re enthusiastic about supporting this most local of events and showing off just how good their prize-winning ales are.
With 60+ participants already signed up that’s plenty of pints to be pulled and we think that our riders will prove themselves to be an excellent tasting panel by the time each day’s riding is done!
With prize sponsors Singular, TORQ, Morvélo and Loco Tuning also on board the inaugural Black Mountains 3 Day is shaping up to be a truly fantastic event. We’re hoping the glorious early summer that’s currently busy priming the trails for you will stick around to make each sip of O4 Columbo taste all the better.
