Harry Molloy blitzed the field to set a new course record on the way to victory in the Eastern and Central Championships at Aston Hill.

The 19-year-old, fresh from his World Cup debut, finished in 59.62 seconds to become the first rider to clock under one minute on the 4-2-3 course, used for the 2009 Southern Downhill Championships.

The dry and compact course was put through its paces by a lightning field, with the top 24 all finishing inside 1:05 minutes on a track that last year didn’t see anyone finish faster than 1:06.

Meanwhile, Emma Wareham won the elite women’s category by more than six seconds, Jamie Smith set the pace in the masters competition and Trevor Harvey claimed the veterans class.

Ross Hammond won the senior men’s competition, William Weston claimed the juvenile division, Philip Atwill ruled the youth category and Sam Wakefield took the junior hot seat.
