Orange’s Michael Bonney tells us that someone has stolen one of the company’s prototype Sub 5s from Ullswater, apparently “during a testing session” although we assume it wasn’t actually being ridden at the time…
The bike in question sounds pretty distinctive, being the first example of a redesigned Sub 5. The swingarm pivot is lower, the geometry is “revised” (although you may not be able to actually see that…) and the monococque down tube is now radiused rather than having corners on it. It’s also got a classic factory prototype touch – a bit of filed-away swingarm above the chainrings to make room for a front mech…
Other than that, it’s painted matt black, has Manitou Black forks, Deore discs and a twin-chainring/bashguard setup. If you spot it or if someone tries to sell it to you, Orange would very much like to hear from you – 01422 311113 or mailto:[email protected].
