Current or former world champions from four different off-road disciplines will line-up for the first time in UCI Cross-Country World Cup history this weekend in Dalby Forest.
Sven Nys, cyclo-cross world champion in 2005, and former four-cross world champion Brian Lopes will compete in the elite men’s race, while reigning downhill world champion Tracy Moseley will contest the elite women’s race.
Past and present cross-country World Championship gold medallists champions include Julian Absalon (France), Nino Schurter (Switzerland), Jose Antonio Hermida (Spain), Maja Wloszczowska (Poland) and Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja (Norway).
The World Cup weekend kicks off tomorrow evening with a free-to-watch urban street race, the Pro Sprint Eliminator, in Pickering.
Amateur riders will put their skills to the test in the Dalby Dare on Saturday, with juniors and under-23s also competing during the course of the weekend ahead of the elites on Sunday afternoon.
Adults can watch Sunday’s World Cup racing for £14, with child, family, weekend and Dalby Dare passes also available. Tickets will be sold on the door.
Meanwhile, British Cycling has teamed up with 2Pure and Ibis UK to offer competition winners the chance to ride with Lopes on Saturday.
