Trail Break’s 10th Wight Diamond Festival (27-30 May) is becoming ever more imminent, and there’s a couple of new features to tell you about. As well as the Navigator orienteering-style events on Saturday and Sunday, those of a more follow-the-arrows persuasion can opt for 60 or 40km enduros – there’ll be different routes for Saturday and Sunday. Trail Break has put route profiles on its website – the routes can reasonably be described as “fairly hilly”, but there are bail-out options.
Saturday has also been deemed to be “Retro Saturday”, with riders encouraged to show up using, wearing or just carrying their pick of retro items. Preferably bike-related (fluoro jerseys, JT shades etc) but failing that a comedy afro wig is suggested.
Musical entertainment for Saturday and Sunday nights has been confirmed (it’s Remedy on Saturday and The Goondocks (formerly known as The Hanging Baskets) on Sunday, for the benefit of followers of the Isle of Wight music scene). Mix in food and beer, garnish with Monday’s wind-down rides and it looks like a winning recipe. Full details at www.trailbreak.co.uk/wdc/index.php.
