Thank god it wasn’t us, as we’d still be lying there trying to type in the right letter not the Swedish version, but this weekend a 59 year old climber showed it’s not just the Yoof who can’t survive without texting.
The man fell and injured his legs and chest near the Llanberis pass in Snowdonia, but after alerting mountain rescue he moved into the shelter of a rock where his phone signal became too weak to pick up calls. Search and Rescue teams and a rescue chopper couldn’t find him so they texted him back asking him his exact location and he ‘TXT’ guided the pilot to him. He was spotted and airlifted to hospital, where he was released later with minor injuries.
Makes a change to have someone using the phone properly though, rather than ringing up Mountain Rescue because they’re lost or because they’re late and need to cancel their table reservation at the restaurant. Don’t laugh, it happens all too often.
