Tommorrow is the official bike to work day of National Cycle Week so get ready today.
Make sure you’ve got a couple of extra snacks, some extra strength deodorant and baby wipes ready for tommorrow morning.
If your bike needs some work before Red Bull arrange to drop it in with your local (to work) bike shop tommorrow. If they don’t open before you start, lock it outside and stick the lock key through the door (make sure you tell them first though). Even if you reckon your bike is fine give the gears and brakes a workout to make sure they’re in working order and stock up on spare tubes and brake pads, even if they’re brand new.
Scope out bike parking at work. Check it’ll still be useable on Wednesday (IE don’t lock your bike to a wheelie bin if tommorrow’s collection day). Get all your spare clothes, lock and keys ready tonight so you’re not thrashing round trying to eat corn flakes and find essential gear at 6 am. Get your work mates to ride in to keep you company.
If you’re riding the Red Bull this weekend then tommorrow is a perfect ride to taper down to Saturday. A steady stint in both directions – no courier chasing now – will burn just enough food and energy to convince your body that it needs to store extra food just in case, so get home and have a good nosh, and don’t be shy about raiding the fruit basket while you’re at work.
For those looking for inspiration and excellent advice may we reccommend the fabulous whatshouldiputonthefence.com website. Hot news today is the savage vandalism of the Fencemaster’s new ironing board, it’s modesty bared as it’s floral cover is torn away by hooligans. Well worth a regular visit……
