Here’s the word from the racehorses mouth;
Hi people,
This year has been difficult so far in terms of race organisation. Venues are hard to come by, and with races being cancelled left right and center, it’s become an admin nightmare. Fear not though as we have still managed to come up with some races for you all :o)
I have included two maps (here’s the other) to show the whereabouts of the XC at Leverhulme this weekend (May 27th). Please note there will be no surcharge at Leverhulme Park for late entries, but pre-entries would be preferred.
Leverhulme Park XC Course Description
Though set in a park the course has a wide variety of surfaces. To make the best use of the area we have available, it has been necessary to create a looping course with ample opportunity for supporters to see riders during the laps. Please do not use such near overlaps to cheat both yourself & others! The start is fairly flat but soon drops off the edge, through trees to the valley floor. Mud, grass, gravel & tarmac then loop back up before a second steep wooded descent. A section along gravel paths to the bridge may require care on some descending bends ( we cannot guarantee to preclude all dog walkers!). The track climbs gradually before undulating on grass & through trees before dropping again to river level. Returning to the bridge area the river may be crossed via the ford or by two way traffic on the bridge (hopefully the ford will be suitable on the day). Fast tracks on the valley floor then lead to the return climb through the trees back to the start. It’s a shortish lap but from events here some years ago can be enjoyable.
