There’s just a month to go until 10 Under The Ben, the first event in the Benromach Three Tens Series of endurance cross country mountain bike events, goes ahead and the organisers tell us that entries are already up on last year. So if you’re planning to enter, don’t wait too long.
“We’re delighted to announce that over 1000 people have now registered for the 2009 Benromach Three Tens Series,” says Frazer Coupland from No Fuss Events. “This is a 20% rise on 2008 figures at this stage. This is particularly encouraging news at a time when so many people are suffering the credit crunch. We are optimistic that this year’s 10 Under The Ben will attract a capacity field of 1000 riders with Kirroughtree and Moray 500 riders each.
“10 Under the Ben continues to be the most popular event of the series. With almost 800 riders now entered we expect to close registration within a couple of weeks. We ask that riders who are keen to be part of this year’s event sign up now to avoid disappointment.”
Now in its fifth year, 10 Under The Ben, the original 10-hour mountain bike festival of fun and the flagship of the Benromach series, will be staged on 30 May 2008, a week before the 2009 Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup hits Fort William.
The three challenging races in the Scottish series – 10 Under The Ben, 10 At Kirroughtree and 10 More In Moray – are run on an endurance format with participants riding solo or in relay teams of two, three or four to see who can complete the most laps in a gruelling 10 hours.
The course, described as being “awesome” by the organisers, uses trails within Forestry Commission Scotland’s Leanachan Forest just outside Fort William. It’ll incorporate sections of the UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships cross country course.
