The final round of the new Hope Race series takes place at Lee Quarry, Lancashire, this weekend (31 May), and there’s still time to enter.
Sponsor Hope has put up some great prizes for the overall series winners as well as providing custom cut discs for the winners trophies, plus a Vision 4 led, Tech X2 brakeset and the brand new SP XC6 wheelset (not even in the shops yet) up for grabs for the overall.
The course consists of laps 4.5 km long and they include some stiff climbs. The course includes fast open tracks, a big bermy rollercoaster section and long sections of fast technical singletrack. The trails are very technical in places and include a few points where they are quite rocky or exposed. Note that the course is not the same as last time.
The organisers would like to remind all racers that there is a “no assistance” rule which includes technical support and feeding for all categories. They recommend taking a chain link, spare tube, tyre levers and pump – a few people didn’t at earlier races and it was race over when they had a mechanical.
Toilets are provided at the event village, which is about 400m from the start. There is no running water on-site. First aid cover is provided by the Rossendale And Pendle Mountain Rescue Team and they will be based within the quarry. The event village will have a coffee and cake vendor.
