The Newnham 90 has become a fixture of the MTB event calendar, and on 13/14 September it’s back for a third time. Based at the former World Cup venue of Newnham Park and venturing out onto the wilds of Dartmoor, the Newnham 90 offers “some of the best off road riding available in the UK, coupled with a unique ‘non race’ atmosphere that is all about beating your personal goals and taking part,” which sounds good to us.
The weekend kicks off on 13 September with the Shred Short Track XC, plus Cove test rides, led rides with Mick Ives and then the traditional pasta party featuring live music and of course a bar. Camping and facilities are immediately adjacent to event HQ and camping is included in the entry fee. There’ll be various trade stands to engage your attention when you’re not riding, including Freestyle, High5, Race Face, American Bicycle Group, Specialized, Scott and Kona.
The route is 90km of bits of World Cup course, moorland bridleways, forest road, singletrack and quarries split into two loops of 50km and 40km – there’s a 50km option if you don’t feel like tackling the full monty.
If you want to ride, get in quick – entries are limited to 750, closing date is 8 September and there’ll be no entries on the day. So download the entry form and send it in…
