The newest addition to the Youth Hostel Association network is open – YHA Berwick is set in the 200-year-old former Dewars Lane Granary in the centre of the town.
Visitors can use the hostel as a base to explore the North Sea Cycle Route that passes directly through Berwick as well as the Coast-to-Coast cycle route and the Pennine Way walking route. There is secure bike storage at the hostel and a bike shop next door for guests to hire bikes or buy spares from.
It costs from £18.00 per night for an adult and from £13.50 for under 18s to stay at YHA Berwick.
Siôn Gates, manager of the four-star hostel said: “The building boasts a fantastic blend of original features with a state of the art hostelling experience. We are hoping to introduce people of all ages to heritage education in a fun and inclusive way.
“We have 55 beds, all having en-suite facilities, a bistro serving home cooked food to both residents and non-residents, a drying room and washing facilities for cyclists and walkers who have been out in bad weather, a classroom, lounge, conference facilities, self catering kitchen, and wheelchair facilities.”
