Welsh trail update

It’s not just Gwydyr Forest that’s been affected by the weekend’s storms. We’ve just heard from Welsh trail supremo Dafydd Davis with an update of the situation:

“CYB, Gwydyr and NYA were all closed on Monday and Tuesday. This was due to a huge number of fallen tress on the trails but more importantly, a very large number of very dangerous hanging trees and root plates.”

“As of Thursday morning the Gwydyr trail, the Red Bull and MBR trails at Coed y Brenin and the Summit trail at Nant y Arian will be open. The Karrimor and Sport trails at CYB will remain closed until further notice, but certain sections will be open on the Karrimor, namely the R74, Big Doug and Seven Sisters. The big descent is closed.”

“The MTB Rangers will be on site at all the trailheads over the weekend to provide advice and in the meantime riders should contact the various visitor centres for info on specific trails.”

Those all-important phone numbers:

  • Coed y Brenin – 01341 422289
  • Nant y Arian – 01970 890694
  • Gwydyr Forest – 01690 710766
  • Afan Argoed – 01639 850564
  • Cwmcarn – 01495 270010
