Want to learn how to win a Polaris Challenge? The Offroad Training
Consultancy, the OTC have got together with Polaris to provide you with a special
Polaris Challenge Event Training Course. Designed to help and develop those wanting
to improve their mountain bike orienteering skills in the Polaris Challenge Events,
the course is open to anyone from first timers to experienced campaigners.

As with all courses run by OTC, the Polaris Challenge training course is designed
to be fun and informative whilst providing an excellent learning environment for
you. A full weekend of fun in the North Yorkshire Moors with excellent riding from
the back door, just two weeks before the autumn Polaris Challenge event takes place.
The course staff are all experienced Polaris Challenge competitors as well as OTC
tutors, and have a wealth of Polaris Challenge experience. They are also experienced
teachers, instructors and are qualified as OTC Leader Trainers. Implementing modern
teaching methods to help you learn through practical experience, OTC tutors love
to see you enjoying improving your skills.

Venue

Held at the North Yorkshire Moors Adventure Centre near Osmotherley, provides
excellent riding straight from the back door onto the North Yorkshire Moors. This
area, used regularly by the Summer Polaris Challenge has some of the best riding
in the U.K. Access agreements mean that local woods area also available to you for
the training course. The Centre is immediately off the A19, and so very quick to
get to. Accommodation is provided on Friday and Saturday nights, with food provided
on Saturday and Sunday.

So what do we do?

As with all OTC courses, to help you get the most out of the course, the content
will be based around your needs and current abilities. It is expected that most people
will need to cover some or all of the following:

Preparation and emergency maintenance

Basic map reading and navigation

Advanced event navigation including speed navigation and navigation on the move

Fitness and nutrition

Riding skills

Two mini 1 hour Polaris Challenge events to help hone those skills
