A few update snippets from the organisers of the Bontrager Twentyfour12 concurrent 12 and 24-hour race (Lodgewood Park, Shropshire; 22/23 July 2006). First and most importantly, entries close on 14 July – just two weeks away. So you’ll be wanting to get in quick. There’s been a bit of juggling of places between the 24 and 12 hour events to reflect demand, so there is still space in all categories.
The course is being tweaked and honed – recent Midlands XC races at the venue have apparently included some quite tricky bits, so if you tend to find most 24 hour courses a bit too easy (what with your mad skillz and everything) then this might be the one for you. Local course builder Matt Farmer is an ex-pro DHer – say no more…
Over at the event website (www.twentyfour12.com) there’s plenty of freshly-added 24 hour racing tips from top riders including Keith Bontrager, Chris Eatough and Nat Ross. And as an added bonus, Trek and Gary Fisher will be running demo rides with their respective 2007 full suspension bikes, and there’ll be demo rides with Rocky Mountain, Cove and Santa Cruz too.
