Enjoy and experience beautiful scenery and great off-road riding at Otley Chevin Forest Park and the surrounding bridleways. It’s a great way to start to develop the ability, confidence and safety awareness of mountain biking for all the family as well as individuals. Skills courses are lead by a fully qualified mountain bike instructor and during the day the course will cover the following:
- Bike preparation [safety checks]
- Riding position
- Correct use of gears
- Braking [efficiently and safely]
- Ascending techniques [climbing]
- Descending techniques [coming down…..Ouch]
- Cornering techniques
- Riding single track
- Drops
Terrain is quite technical but not to demanding for novice riders, but it helps if you have some general fitness to enjoy the day to the full.
Courses start 10am and finish at 4pm approx, the following dates are for women specific courses, but there are many other dates for mixed groups catering for beginners to advanced riders.
Please contact Iain at Cycle Yorkshire to book your place, [email protected]. Luckily bike hire is included in the course price if required, make sure you ask if you need a bike! For more information go to
