We’ve just got dates and details of 2002 course from Dan Cook at the Off Road Training Consultancy.
At the base level there are skill development sessions in riding and maintenance aimed at getting you up to speed with the best tips and techniques. Moving on from that there are Skill Instructor awards to help others develop their riding skills and if you’re wanting to be a guide in the U.K. or abroad there’s also national mountain bike leading qualifications.
In addition and new for 2002 are trailquest training combined with National Trailquest events and paramedic mountain biking courses.
The OTC are also running a discounted student seminar for anyone with £22 left after beer money. The National Student Mountain Bike Seminar is designed to help students in Higher Education develop their riding, navigation and maintenance skills and safe methods of running club rides and weekends. The course takes the best of the National Mountain Bike Leader Awards, maintenance, navigation and riding skills courses and makes them specific to the student riding environment.
The course has support from the Student Safety Advisory Body, SASA, as well as Endsleigh Insurance, Norwich Union and Ecclesiastical and only costs £22, but places are limited. It runs from Friday, 22nd to Sunday, 24th February 2002, and is based at Thornbridge Education Centre, which provides fantastic riding and varied throughout the Peaks.
