Mountain bikers in Sheffield are being encouraged to lend their voice and support in a meeting tonight to discuss trail development and access issues in the area.
“Theres lots of potential for mountain biking in Sheffield, with the proposed building of parkwood as well as lots of great riding in and around,” says Henry Norman, a local mountain biker. “In order to have some view on this we need to be represented in some way. A point that mountain bikers can go to for information, but also for other trail users too. We need to show the strength in numbers.”
This meeting has been brought together by a local mountain biker, who’s also on the Local Access forum. He’s looking to form a “rider’s group” to feed info back/forth between the LAF and local riders. Here’s a few specifics to kick off with:
- – Name for the group ?
- – Trail upgrades/downgrades
- – Trail surfacing
- – Possible new building in Lady Cannings – Parkwood Springs Loop – Links with Ride the Peak
- All other ideas!
Come along, have a chat, have a beer and let them know what you want
“This is a group which is essentially focused on advocacy, with a good background and approach and sensible ideas and the sheer numbers of mountain bikers in the area we have a much greater influence on potential changes in the area,” added Henry.
The meeting takes place tonight 8pm at the Lescar, Sharrowvale Road, Sheffield. You can also find out more at the Facebook group.
