We’ve already told you about jobs on the excellent ‘Seven Stanes’ singletrack project in the forests of the south of Scotland. But now they need a project leader as well, and they’re paying proper money to the right candidate.
With a starting salary of £25,489 a year (for 3 years) you’re going to need some serious experience and qualifications but, as the press release says, this is a job in a million for someone who loves mountain biking.
Karl Bartlett of Forest Enterprise commented;
“We are in the hunt for a supremo to supervise and manage the whole project.
The lucky person will work closely with the Forestry Commission and all
the partners to help boost the South of Scotland’s reputation for mountain biking at home and abroad.”

Organising and co-ordinating site plans, construction and visitor
monitoring
Managing and administering the project funding and reporting to its
partners
Organising and co-ordinating promotion and publicity for the MTB
facilities at home and abroad
Working with local communities, youth organiations, tourism and business
interests
Organising and co-ordinating any international MTB events for the Seven
Stanes area

As usual for our cynical little cycling world there’s already some chuntering and conspiracy theories flying around about why exactly the FE are trying to lure us onto their land and what their long term plans are for the future of mountain biking. Fear not, as we’re due to be talking to their main man in advance of a full blown insight into the reasons for the massive investment in training, building and marketing that we’re seeing at the moment.
