I saw the new Psylo SL on Bikemagic back in july/august and I knew they would be the fork for me for the following reasons:
1) My Judys were knackered!
2) They are adjustable anywhere between 80 to 125mm
3) They come with a lock out function
4) They have mud clearence for a 2.6 in tyre!
5) They have a good sealing system
6) They are perfect for my type of riding (Freeriding)
When they finally arrived the first thing I noticed was how good they looked. They came in black and the new tubular crown matched the fork colour. The new design brace looked smooth and stif, with plenty of mud clearence, a God send for this country!
Out of the box the travel was set at 90mm but I wanted to try the 125mm setting first. For this I had to undo the top cap on the left leg, remove the spring and insert a very long flat blade screwdriver to turn the vari adjust plunger at the bottom a few times to reach 125mm of travel.
Once fitted I went on a long ride and the first thing I came to was a hill. So I locked em out and powered up the hill. The forks are designed to move about 6mm in the lockout position but you don’t notice this. Once I was at the top it was time for some singletrack. The forks tracked the terrain superbly and were very progressive. After fiddling with the rebound I had them set up perfect for the conditions (which were wet of course!)
I have no problems so far but time will tell.
These are quite simply the best forks available for the money and are gonna give the Bombers a run for their money. The lock out function is simple but effective and the forks are fully adjustable. This is a fantastic fork for the price. If this is your market, don’t buy anything else!
