Not content with stealing our fish, our merry Spanish chums have now swiped the Sustrans ‘trails on train tracks’ idea too. Actually – hysterical Xenophobia aside – this is a really good thing, opening up 80 trails comprising 600 miles of smooth surfaced trails and another 400 miles of “mountain bike” trails.
Seems the Spaniards are sick of everyone piling up in heaps on the beaches and are taking the trails to remote locales offering spectacular scenery, which is fine by us. The Spanish are planning to extend the network by 200 miles a year, and with over 5,000 miles to go at we reckon there’s a bunch of gringo’s with a few spades, some gravel and a wheelbarrow who’ve got a job for life!
Bueno!
