Road news from Scotland

VTTA NATIONAL 30 TT AT BLAIRDRUMMOND , SCOTLAND, 13/8/00

There was gnashing of teeth and a quiet folding up of the St Andrews flag as
it was casually tucked away into a used carrier bag.

For from the 65 entrants
only 4 had ventured North wards from the outbacks of Teeside. Unsure of the
Nationalist rantings the mighty four had taken on the best geriatric cycling
athletes and defeated them. This tri cyclists had rounded the course with
almost a collision with an Aberdeen Angus when his cycle shorts got caught
on his saddle at Kippen. Never the less it was a well derserved win for
this Teeside Champion, GL Dawson and on a tri-cycle. His 1-23-04 a +27.40
gave him the award as well as the wee “OAPi” hat.
The Scottish Champion award went to Wullie Cuthbert, Inverclyde Velo with
his 1-20-46 a +of 21.14. Wullie is quite probably the only living case of
rigour mortis.
British Team award was collected by the Glasgow Wheelers with………
Johanne Thayne 1-25-47 +15.27; Jim Parker 1-21-53 +13.31 and big Eric Easson
with his 1-13-27 +15.07
The Scottish award which is based on only two riders,(we reserve the
undeniable right to cheat) was lifted by the Clarks. Tom Clark, Johnstone
Wheelers 1-10-50 +18.24 and his much younger wife Elizabeth 1-20-52 +13.08
The actual fastest on the day was the Shetland Wheeler, Carlos Riise with a
fantastic 1-6-50. A good day with little wind and the late starters were
doused with a little rain.

Take Care out there!!!
