The second Ritchey Oktoberfest will take place on October 15-16 for another helping of trails, beers and Bavarian blue and white flags.
An eight-hour relay kicks off at 9am on the Saturday before finishing at 5pm, while within that the organisers have included two four-hour races so riders who want to bring the season to a well deserved close don’t have to overdo it on the final event.
All three events will have categories for solo riders, as well as pairs and teams of three or four, all available in three divisions – Team Open, Team Old Gits (average age 40+) and Single Speed. The entry fee for the eight-hour event is £33 per rider and £27 per rider for the four-hour races.
At the recent Bikefest riders were able to sample some of the newly created sections of the Ashton Court single track heaven and the Oktoberfest is going to use the whole new course – in fact, it is the official launch of the new trail. Take a look at the newly updated Oktoberfest course page.
“The new course is going to be super flowy, long enough to make the laps a real challenge but not too long so that multiple laps for team riders even in the four-hour event are possible,” say the organisers. “From a spectator point of view the course never drifts too far away from the event village which makes checking out a few locations during the event a breeze.”
The site is open for campers from Friday to Sunday, with a DJ pumping out the tunes and a bar selling food and drink. Head this way to enter online.
Meanwhile, the first Run Rider off-road duathlon will take place on the Sunday, with two courses on offer, open to solo riders and pairs.
Entry is open now. For further details including course maps, directions to the venue, event timetable and facilities, go to www.runrider.co.uk
