Annie Last will arrive at the World Championships in Champery, Switzerland in peak condition after fine-tuning her preparations with victory in the Swiss Cup.
Last has enjoyed a superb season to date, registering two top ten finishes in the final two rounds of the World Cup series and claiming a top 20 spot overall.
And the Brit took that form to the Swiss Cup, attacking 2008 Olympic champion Sabine Spitz on the final lap before riding away to claim victory by 27 seconds, with Spitz second and Kathrin Stirnemann third.
Last claimed world under-23 silver last year but will line-up on the start line on Thursday (September 1) looking to upgrade to gold.
Meanwhile, Liam Killeen finished ninth in the men’s Swiss Cup race, one minute, 55 seconds adrift of two-time Olympic gold medallist Julien Absalon.
The men’s senior World Championship race takes place on Saturday (September 3). Click here to see the full worlds schedule.
