Now in its third year the RUSS Appeal have planned the Ride for a Flight weekend, on the 5-7 August. The ride brings together some of the regular Trail Break series, all from the one site. The RATZ mountain bike club’s XC course around Checkendon will be used, and there is loads of riding planned, from Friday evening through to Sunday. On Saturday night is the Exposure Lights Night Flight.
The aim of the RUSS Appeal is to raise money for the Air Ambulance, a service that receives no government support and instead relies on donations from the public. In the last two years the appeal has raised about £30,000, and you can do your bit to raise this figure at the Ride for a Flight weekend. The sight of the Air Ambulance is something we are all familiar with when out riding, and the sight of the Air Ambulance at the recent Mountain Mayhem is a reminder of how vital they are in saving lives.
There’ll be free camping provided with an event marquee running an open barbrque, just bring some food, and the promise of a cool festival atmosphere.
