There’ll be two significant changes for the fourth running of London’s Cycle Show this year. Most importantly, the whole shebang has upped sticks and moved from Islington’s Business Design Centre to the considerably larger venue of ExCeL in Docklands. It’ll also be held a couple of weeks later, from 13-16 October (although 13 October is trade and press day), which should mean more 2006 goodies on display – several major manufacturers will be previewing their 2006 ranges at the show. We’re told that exhibitors have been booking space in record numbers, and the available space was almost booked up months ago. So it should be a packed show.
Reassuringly, there’s a bunch of new exhibitors including BH Bikes, BMC, Colnago, Cotic and Titus. Meanwhile companies like Chicken and Sons, Condor, Evans, Extra, HED, Foska, Scott, Specialized, Trek and Rapha have all got bigger stands for 2005. The show’s intended to have a broad appeal, and the exhibitor list certainly seems to reflect that.
It’s not just bikes and stuff, though. The new venue has let the organisers include a load of new interactive features. There’ll be a road race, an international trials competition and a duathlon going on and Transport For London will be running a test track for commuter and hybrid bikes.
