Entry for the UK’s biggest mountain bike event of the season, the Original Source Mountain Mayhem 24-hour race, opens Monday 28 February.
As is tradition with Mountain Mayhem, there’ll be a stampede of people trying to get their entry in as quickly as possible, so our advice, if you want to ride this 24-hour event, is to not hang around for one of the 2,500 places.
Now in its 14th year, Mountain Mayhem takes place at Eastnor Castle, Herefordshire on the weekend of 18/19 June 2011.
There’s (still) no online entry, so you’ll need to head to this website, download the form, stuff it in an envelope along with a cheque for the entry fee and pop it in your nearest postbox. Confirmation of entry will be sent by email within one week of receipt of your entry form.
That won’t stop many people going to the effort of personally delivery their entry to organiser Pat Adams house though, and this year The North Face are giving a free hydration pack to the first person to arrive after midnight next Monday.
There will also be Original Source goodies for everyone going to Patrick’s house with a completed entry form. Patrick’s address is Vein Cottage, Reapsmoor, Longnor, Buxton, Derbyshire SK17 0LG. There will be refreshments available through the night to those who make the journey.
Nigel Wolstenholme, Senior Brand Manager at Original Source, says: “Original Source Mountain Mayhem is one of the muddiest and most exciting events in the UK but the buzz it gives participants makes them feel it’s worth getting dirty for. And when our saddle-weary warriors come to the end of a tough 24 hours, they can blast themselves clean with an intense shower experience using Original Source shower gels.”
Patrick Adams added: “Since its beginning back in 1998, the event has grown and developed over the years to become the biggest 24-hour mountain bike endurance event worldwide. This year expect surprises, excitement and one of the best Mountain Mayhems to date.”
