new Mid-Devon Cycling Club women’s record

DEANNA Shepherd defied blustery conditions to set a new Mid-Devon Cycling Club women’s record in the St. Budeaux CC Open 10-mile Time Trial on the A38 at Buckfastleigh.

Fast-improving Deanna (pictured below), from Newton Abbot, won the ladies’ section in 23 minutes 44 seconds.

It followed two fine efforts in national events – fifth in the latest Road Time Trial Council series in Manchester and 18th in the National Ladies’ 10-mile Championship.

Deanna is also leading the South-West SPOCO (Sporting Courses) Series, and is looking forward to the National 25-mile Championships in Liverpool in two weeks’ time.

At the St. Budeaux event, won by Greg Sandy (Global Racing/ Avon Valley Cyclery) in 20.41, Mid-Devon’s Mark Pollard and Chris Lacklison were joint-seventh in 22.01.

Steve Lawrence came home in 22.50, Neil Aggett 23.45, Ian Deakin 23.52 and Tracey Fey was second lady in 27.26.
