Eddie Merckx bikes are now distributed in the UK by Bikepark. The Merckx factory’s been running since 1982 and makes 5,000 bikes a year. That’s not many by some companies’ standards, but production volumes are kept deliberately low to keep quality high.

The latest line up from Merckx includes range-topping the GX2 Carbon Monocoque and the Team Replica SC Scandium (pictured). The GX2 Carbon is a whopping £1,899 for the frame, but for those on a slightly lower budget the range kicks off with the aluminium £499 Flyer. All the road frames can be had with conventional level top tubes or new-fangled sloping ones. Time trial, cyclo-cross and track frames are also available.
