Muc-Off 8 enduro launched

New 8-hour enduro for 2010

Poole-based cleaning experts Muc-Off has partnered with events company VOTwo, and the Pippingford Park 600 acre private estate in East Sussex, to give birth to the Muc-Off 8.

Taking place on Sunday 11 April 2010, the 8-hour enduro format will be based on solo riders and teams of two, three or four competing around a challenging off-road course including a purpose made and electronically timed downhill section which also forms part of each lap.

The aim is to complete as many laps as possible within the time period with teams dictating their own strategy, using only one rider at a time on the course. The 8-hour format bridges the gap between the existing 12-24 hour races and six hour events.

Starting at 9am and finishing at 5pm – allowing riders to work 9 ’til 5 – this racing format also enables riders the chance to challenge themselves on a longer event that is still completed comfortably within one day.

Muc-Off 8 will also aim to bring a slice of glamour with special celebrity guest appearances, corporate hospitality, free bike care and the beauty of unspoiled, private tracks and trails. Muc-Off will aim to deliver an unforgettable event experience with top quality live entertainment, first class organisation and free goodies.

Muc-Off MD Alex Trimnell comments:

“When we first came up with the concept for the Muc-Off 8, the rider experience and value for money was the first priority. It was key for us to follow the same principles that we operate within Muc-Off such as the best possible user experience, a strong focus on environmental concerns and to make sure it’s fun, exciting and cutting edge!

We are very excited to be hosting our own event and to meet our customers and fellow mountain bikers on what will definitely be a race day to remember. We are working on lots of new concepts which I think will make this a very unique and exciting event.”

Although visitors to the Pippingford venue can expect some eye-catching branding from Muc-Off and its associated sponsors, there will be a strong emphasis on environmental issues. The Park is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and considers its responsibilities to the environment as highly important.

Votwo’s Andy Blow explains:

“All of our events aim to expose competitors to inspirational and challenging environments whilst minimising any negative or long term impact and the Muc Off 8 will be no exception. Of course as Muc Off is a totally biodegradable product the bike cleaning service will leave no trace once the race has gone and other simple ideas like bins on the race course will allow riders to get rid of their rubbish without littering the venue.

Working with Pippingford park the race course has been designed to avoid disruption to the wildlife on the site. We appreciate that we are very fortunate to have been granted use of such a wonderful piece of England and leaving it exactly as we find it will be the aim.”

Entries for the race are now open, and there will be an incentive for the first 100 teams to enter. For further information on the Muc-Off 8 visit www.mucoff8.com
