That’s a mega steep course
The second round of the MSC/Descent-Gear NPS DH series heads to Llangollen on 30/31 May and organisers are promising one of the hardest tracks in the UK for everyone going.
The course, created by Steve Parr, drops 1,000 feet and is super steep throughout. Spiked mud tyres will be the order of the day, say the organisers.
UK riders might not have it all their own way as the Maxxis/ Rocky Mountain DH team including New Zealander Cameron Cole, American Luke Strobel and current UCI World Cup leader France’s Sabrina Jonnier will be on the start list.
The MSC/Descent-Gear NPS DH series is UCI accredited and there’s a large pot of prize money for the fastest riders, with the event a stepping stone to the coveted World Cup circuit you can be sure of some hotly contested racing with many laying it all on the line.
The format is a one-run procedure so there’s no second chance. Full Face helmets are compulsory and full body armour is strongly advise and a neck brace whilst walking down the track, let alone riding it.
Tim Flooks from TF Tuned will be offering £200 to the rider who wins their category by the biggest margin. Pete Evans from 2Stage Bikes has also dug deep and will be flowing another £200 to the rider with the fastest seeding and race run time overall.
Parking for riders and spectators is free and Monster Energy will be there fuelling the riders and there with their huge Wigwam to keep us sheltered from the elements. There’s a huge sound system, live timing with big screen and running commentary.
