Round-the-world cyclist Mark Beaumont
Tracy Moseley
There’s more for bike fans to look forward to at the forthcoming Kendal Mountain Festival (20-23 November), with the announcement that record-breaking round the world cyclist Mark Beaumont will be speaking on Saturday 22 November. Beaumont completed his 18,297 mile circumnavigation of the world in February, arriving back at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris 194 days and 17 hours after his departure on 5 August 2007. He broke the previous record for cycling around the world by a not-inconsiderable 81 days.
That’s in addition to the already-announced Bike Night (Thursday 20 November), hosted by Bikemagic’s Mike Davis and featuring a Q&A with Tracy Moseley, Pauline Sanderson’s “Longest Climb on Earth” from the lowest point on the planet to the highest, trail builder Andy Hopkins’s “Tales of the Trails”, plus a selection of short films and a showing of Seasons, the latest film from the Collective.
Tickets for the Kendal Mountain Festival Bike Night are £11, and £12 for Mark Beaumont’s talk. Full Festival details (and online booking) at www.mountainfilm.co.uk, or call Kendal’s Brewery Arts box office on 01539 725133. And if you’re attending and have questions you’d like to put to Tracy Moseley, send them to [email protected].
