The line-up for the Kendal Mountain Festival’s Bike Night (Kendal Town Hall, Thursday 20 November) has now been finalised. The evening kicks off at 7.30pm with an introduction from someone called Mike Davis, editor of Bikemagic. He’ll probably be a bit rubbish, but thankfully there’s some good stuff coming right up behind.

It’s a film opener, with the 18 minute celebration of Proper Mountains™ Riding The Alps. Following that will be Pauline Sanderson’s account of her epic ride from the lowest point on Earth up to Everest Base Camp. She went on to climb Everest itself, but you won’t be surprised to learn that the bike stayed at the bottom.

After a short break there’ll be a showing of a special edit of Seasons, the latest film from The Collective. Having become suitably stoked, it’ll be time to get the story behind World Cup DH success with a Q&A session with Tracy Moseley.

Another film next, with light-hearted short Life Cycle, after which 7Stanes trailbuilding supremo Andy Hopkins will be talking about the art and science behind constructing top-notch purpose-built trails.

The grand finale will be Marcus Fellows’s film Road to the Megavalanche, telling the story of the legendary mass-start Alpine DH event. And then Bike Night will wind up at, it says here, 10:27pm, which seems unusually precise.

Tickets for Bike Night are £11 from either www.mountainfilm.co.uk or call the Brewery Arts Centre box office on 01539 725133. We hope to see you there…
