The London 2012 Olympic schedule has been announced, with the mountain bike XC events taking place on 11/12 August 2012.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today confirmed the full schedule for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The XC mountain bike race will take place at Hadleigh Farm, Essex, with the women’s race going ahead at 12:30-14:30 on Saturday 11 August and followed on Sunday at 13:30-15:30 by the men’s race.
The London 2012 Organising Committee also today confirmed prices for the tickets, which will cost from £20 to £45. Tickets for the event will go on sale on Tuesday 15 March 2011 for a six week period, and will not be sold on a first come, first served process.
Sebastian Coe, Chair of LOCOG, commented: “Publishing the Olympic sports competition schedule means that everyone – athletes, coaches, spectators, broadcasters and everybody who wants to be part of London 2012 can now start planning their Games.”
At the end of last year Bikemagic was given the chance to take a look at the Olympic course, which is still in early development stages. The course will be 5.1km when completed, and is laid out over two major hills, which together offer a surprising degree of climbing – certainly more than might be expected if you look at a map of the area.
You can read our full impressions on the course right here.
While it’s the British road and track cyclists that will be getting most of the attention come the Olympics, we’ll be rooting for Oli Beckingsale and Liam Killeen, both of whom have set their sights firmly on the race.
