didn’t take much for him to be persuaded into entering the local Dirty
Duathlon, organised by a family friend.
Armstrong showed he doesn’t need wheels for speed either, coming out of the
first run in third place. He quickly took the lead on a very technical
mountain bike course but then punctured. Whether he forgot where he was and
sat and waited for the service car we don’t know, but he lost a whole lot of
time and finished 6th nearly 8 minutes down on the race winner.
Junior US MTB and cyclo cross star Walker Ferguson made sure the Trek family
still got on the podium though, taking third for team Gary Fisher Subaru.
