The 100km Builth Wells Marathon event has swapped title sponsors.
Luckily this doesn’t mean any interruption in preparations, as the key team elements are the same (they just work for different people now). BIG PACK, a soon-to-be available new outdoor clothing and equipment brand from Germany, and KONA decided to jump onto this marathon event as the new title sponsors after Schwinn ended their title sponsorship. As the press release says: “Both can see great potential in the event and are also getting more involved in other endurance and adventure racing activities.”
The BIG PACK – KONA 100 is a one-loop, 100 km off-road race with the option of a 50 km version. It takes place around the trails and woodlands surrounding the Welsh town of Builth Wells and the date this year is July 7th. The last two years brought extreme weather conditions to the event, and this year the organisers are hoping for a more stable weekend with “lots of great riding, meeting like-minded people and relaxing around the campground and event village.”
Organisers also said: “As in the years before we have found great supporters in MBR, Parrot, Halfords, High 5, Schwalbe and BIKEmagic.com who will make it possible yet again to have a fantastic weekend and to walk away with a lasting experience.”
The entry fee is £25 as in previous years and will include free camping, free parking, a pasta party, free food/service stations around the course, finisher T-shirt, goodies and lots more.
We’ll have the entry forms available for you to download from BIKEmagic early next week. Meanwhile, if you want a printed version then send an SAE to: The BIG PACK – KONA 100, F.A.O. John Lloyd, Builth Wells Cycles, Smithfield Road, Builth Wells, Powys LD2 3AN. Or call 01982 552923 or fax 01982 551110 for further details.
