If you’re planning a ride in the Hayfield area of the Peak
District this Saturday it’s worth avoiding the part near Kinder
Reservoir which is scheduled to be overrun by Mike Harding and hordes
of ramblers.
Hayfield on Saturday? |
It’s the 70th Anniversary of the 1932 Kinder Trespass and a large
gathering of walkers, ramblers and other wheelless beings is planned
for the quarry car park on the road leading up to Kinder Reservoir.
The celebration starts at one o’clock but the car park – and parking
on the road as well we think – is being closed to the public.
That could have knock-on effects on other parking in the area, but
it also means that there may be more walkers than normal on
bridleways making their way to the gathering, so unless you enjoy
using red socks for traction, it might be worth looking at a
different venue.
Oh, one more thing, Harding is scheduled to sing traditional
country walking ditties, so if you must ride past, stick your fingers
in your ears eh?
The Ladybower protest ride is scheduled to take place on the same
day. See this previous BIKEmagic
article for more details.
