According to MountainBike.com we can expect a name change on Kona’s Bear “All mountain” bike range for next year.
It seems Marin thought the Kona Bears were prowling too close to the Californian Bear headbadge and Bear Valley names that they’ve used for years. As a result Kona have agreed to rename their bikes – including a new top line ‘Primo’ model – the ‘Beer’ range for 2003.
Kona’s Jacob Heilbron explained to Mountain Bike, “Kona owners like Beer. They tell us that time and again. So when we were informed that we had to change the name of the Bear line of bikes, Beer was a natural. Plus, it means we only have to change one letter on the decals.”
Lets hope the idea goes down better than the original Kona ‘SEX’ suspension bikes!
