Entries are still being accepted for this weekend’s Longest Day, Longest Ride 24-hour race on the Isle of Man.

Hosted by Loaghtan Loaded Mountain Bike Club at South Barrule MTB Trails on June 18-19, the annual event takes place on the weekend closest to the Summer Solstice.

“This is the only event of its kind held on the Isle of Man,” said Loaghtan Loaded’s Gary Cooper. “It is a personal challenge to push your mind and body beyond your comfort zone and enter the realms of the unknown.

“There will be various vantage points around the course where spectators can observe. These points have been identified on a map which is available on the day. It’s going to be a fun event for those taking part and those coming down to show their support – we can’t wait for it to begin.”

The 5km circuit packs in single track, fire roads and boardwalks and riders can compete solo (entry fee £35) or in teams of two (£67.50), three (£99) or four (£120).

Racing begins at noon on Saturday and proceeds will be donated to the Isle of Man branch of Muscular Dystrophy.

“The unique aspect of this challenge is that you really can do as little or as much as you want, whether it be one lap or as many laps as your body will go within the 24 hour period.
