There is just one race to go in the 2011 Innerleithen Mountain Bike Series – the Mountain TT on March 13.
The race has become the traditional Scottish XC season opener, with riders leaving the start at one minute intervals to tackle a challenging 25km course.
The race started as the Alistair Lees Memorial TT in 2008 and the trophy will be awarded in the vets category in memory of Alistair.
The course this year takes in some new sections, has the same amount of climbing as descending, and visits some old favourite tracks.
The first two events in the series have been hailed a success – the Enduro sold out, while the Mini DH drew a strong field of mud fiends for a wet day out.
Three names are in the frame for the men’s series title – John Young, James Shirley and Steve Larking are on 33, 29 and 27 points respectively. Best result in the TT takes it. Jac Marquis is favourite for the women’s series win.
