We’ve just been talking to event organising supremo Pat Adams, who’s extremely chuffed by the response to the release of entry forms for the freshly-sponsored Saab Salomon Mountain Mayhem. He and his team sent out 800 forms to people that they’d had SAE’s from. Hundreds of forms were downloaded from the internet. And at 5.30am a chap from South Wales was on Pat’s doorstep with his completed form, having driven 200 miles from South Wales…
He wasn’t the only one – the following day 17 people arrived in person to hand-deliver their forms. Meanwhile, a slightly annoyed postman showed up with 47 Special Delivery envelopes, every one of which had to be signed for. Shortly afterwards another postman arrived with a big sack of forms.
Needless to say, the new sponsors are delighted. And delighted event sponsors are very much Good Things.
If you’ve not entered yet, get your skates on. And don’t think that it’s a lost cause – because of the way the category allocation works there’s still a good chance of getting in…
