Fancy a bit of team racing action that doesn’t involve riding in the dark? Then pencil 7 September in your diary, for that is the date of the Heff’s Team Challenge Cup (Ash Ranges, Hants). The Cup is the highlight of West Drayton MBC’s XC event that day – there’s “trad” XC for all categories during the day, with the Challenge Cup being the grand finale.

The format is simple, with teams of four all starting together (they don’t have to usually race in the same category) and the riders’ positions aggregated to give overall results. The trophy is currently held by Team Pedal On.

The Ash Ranges venue has been used for MTB races for years, and features loads of entertaining singletrack and good drainage. The organisers are planning a four mile course for this event, and promise it’ll be a fun loop.
