Apparenetly Red Bull have already recieved 400 SAE’s for team applications for the 24hr mountain mayhem race which means if all the early birds get their acts sorted out there are only a few places left. Get your team sorted and contact Martin Suddick send a large stamped, addressed envelope to Red Bull Mountain Mayhem, PO Box 1303, Cheadle, Stoke on Trent, ST10 4RZ or risk waiting for the website to go live at the end of February.
If you miss this one, or just can’t get enough of sleep deprivation, we’ve got wind of a second 24hr race. Unconfirmed details are that it’s being run at Trentham Gardens on the August Bank Holiday, using a new ‘big hill free’ course that should be easier on legs after 23 hours.
There are also plans to run a whole linked series of 6hr Enduro races based on the succesful Karrimor 6 race. The plan is that different organisers will host different races within the series all counting towards a National Enduro Championships.
We’ll obviously bring you more news as soon as we can get it, but we certainly welcome the move to longer format races as one of the main criticisms aimed at traditional races was the short ride time you got for your entry fee.
With 6 and 24 hr races growing in number you’ll soon be begging for the return of those local two times round the grassy field specials!
