Ghost’s RT Lector Pro Team and HTX Lector Pro Team have received the Red Dot Design Award seal of approval.
The Red Dot Design Award dates back to 1955 and is now the world’s largest and most distinguished design competition, with just shy of 14,000 entries from 68 countries in 2010. Ghost’s bikes received the Product Design gong.
When designing the RT, Ghost looked to combine optimum damper performance with the speed
of a hardtail. The range topping RT Lector Pro Team features premium components from Tune, DT Swiss and Sram, with an overall weight of approximately 9kg.
The new HTX, weighing just 8kg, combines the propulsion of a super-light hardtail with the comfort of a full-suspension. Both bikes will be on display, along with more than 1,500 other products, from July 5 to August 1 in the Red Dot museum in the Zeche Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen, Germany.
“As always, our jury cast a very careful eye over the products submitted. Design quality has asserted itself clearly in the judging process, with genuine and new creative solutions also being rewarded,” said Red Dot founder Professor Dr. Peter Zec.
“Both of these criteria are not just yardsticks for good design, but also for the potential for success on the market. This potential is increased several times over by the targeted use of our renowned
design award.”
