As if the prospect of witnessing 300 of the world’s best mountain bike racers in action across downhill, 4X and cross-country competitions wasn’t enough of an attraction, XC fans will be able to race on the World Cup course on the very same weekend thanks to Glasgow Mountain Bike Club…
Fort William held the first DH World Cup round on British soil last year and it was a huge success. So much so that this year they’re holding a triple event, with an XC round thrown in as well. A new course is being built specially in Leanachan Forest – it’ll form the basis of the new Witches Trail route after the event. The World Cup XC racing will take place on 31 May, with the open World Cup Chaser event over the same course on 1 June. It’s not often you get the chance to follow in the tyre treads of the world’s best, so nip over to www.walkerscycling.co.uk or www.fortwilliamworldcup.co.uk and download yourself an entry form – be quick, spaces are limited. All entrants will get an official World Cup t-shirt and free admission to the DH event.
And if you’re not planning to race but are planning to come along, sort your accommodation out sharpish – places are filling up already… All the details you need are at www.fortwilliamworldcup.co.uk.
